Helping Hands - Summer 2021 Local Youth Mission Trip
August 1-5, 2021, MPLC middle and high school youth joined other young people from two other area churches - Spirit Alive in Kenosha and Lutheran Church of the Resurrection in Racine for a week of service and friendship in the name of Christ! We began the week with worship at Cliffside Park in Racine and serving the Community Meal at Living Faith Lutheran Church. The next 4 mornings found our group at: Zoe Ministry Garden pulling weeds; at Holy Communion Lutheran Church Food Pantry sorting food and other supplies; putting together Lutheran World Relief health and school kits at Mount Pleasant Lutheran Church; sorting food and clothes at Hospitality Center in Downtown Racine; playing games with residents at a senior living facility; and packing school supplies at the ELCA Outreach Center in Kenosha! In the afternoons we enjoyed bowling, going to the beach, going to Petrifying Springs Park and Action Territory! These pictures capture some of the joy brought about by our week of service and fun in our own communities!
Check this out! The Journal Times wrote a nice article about this group. Read it here: the Journal Times article
We love our youth! They play a pivotal role in the church of today, not just the church of tomorrow.
Upper Elementary/Middle School
Programs, classes, activities, events, field trips, overnighters, service projects and more are offered to students in fourth through eighth grades throughout the year. Details about fellowship and service opportunities for middle schoolers can be found in the church newsletter, the bulletin or by calling the church office.
High School
We have various retreats, activities and service projects for HS Youth throughout the year. Find out what’s coming up next in our church newsletter! Each year we also plan and go on a week-long summer trip with our high school youth. In past years, high school students from MPLC have traveled to Toledo, Detroit, St. Paul, Boundary Waters, New Orleans, Puerto Rico, South Dakota, Appalachia, San Antonio, Juarez, Mexico and Toronto, Canada. In 2018, 27 of our high school youth traveled to Houston for the ELCA National Youth Gathering!
