International Partnership
Cristo Salvador (Christ the Savior Chapel) – Florencio Varela, Argentina

MPLC became involved in a partnership ministry with Cristo Salvador through Lutheran Partners in Global Ministries (LPGM)  in 2007. LPGM helps connect congregations in the US to congregations in Argentina and Uruguay to help each congregation involved in partnerships to grow in faith through sharing people, hearts, ministry dreams and goals.

Cristo Salvador is a small worshipping community. The Lutheran Church in Argentina and Uruguay have a little over 30 congregations total. They are led by Mario Alvarez, a deacon, who left his career as a psychologist to follow Christ’s call to minister to this congregation. Pastor David Calvo, who lives about an hour away also helps oversee the congregation and lead the sacraments when he is available.

In February of 2011 a group of 8 people from MPLC will travel to Argentina to meet  the people and to share in the dream of Cristo Salvador to complete two small rooms on the end of the parsonage. One room will be used for counseling and providing other community services to the area. They hope to rent the other room to a student for extra income for the church. We also help to connect with the ministry outreach to the community. We are looking forward to meeting face-to-face and faith-to-faith. We will be sharing our lives and our passion to be a part of the global church.

This will be the first adult international mission trip for MPLC with the hope and goal
of doing both international and domestic missions trip for adults for years to come.
