Mt. Pleasant Lutheran Church

Children and the Church

We love your children and we are so happy you have brought them here.  We welcome children of all ages to worship at any of our services.  We do have several options available to make worship easier for children.

Busy Bags
Busy Bags are located in the narthex, just across from the greeters, and are available for use during any of our services.  The Busy Bags are filled with paper, crayons, and a small board book for children to use during worship.  We simply ask that you return the Busy Bags to their rack after worship.

Cry Room
A cry room is located in the back of the sanctuary, on the organ-side of the church.  It is a glass enclosed room with a sound system and hymnals so grown-ups can continue to see, hear and participate in the worship service.  The cry room has several rocking chairs and toys.  A changing station, complete with a sink, is located just outside the Cry Room.

Nursery
A nursery is available to families during worship at Mount Pleasant Lutheran Church.  The nursery is located in the lower level, just behind the kitchen.  The nursery is staffed with professionals and member volunteers.  Please note there is no nursery service during the 7:15 am Sunday morning service.

Children’s Sermon
Special sermons for children are offered at most services at Mount Pleasant Lutheran Church.  Our Pastors will invite children to come forward for a message tailored just for them.  All children are invited to participate in the children’s sermon.

Communion for Children
At Mount Pleasant Lutheran Church all are welcome at the communion table – including baptized children.  When children begin taking communion is the personal decision of each family.  Children should indicate their preference for communion by holding their hand out to the communion assistant.  Grape juice is available and is located in the middle of the wine tray.  Simply tell the communion assistant or point to the middle of the tray to receive juice instead of wine.  Children not receiving communion are welcome to come forward for a blessing.
